Accessibility + accommodations
The Arts Council believes that art connects all people and prioritizes providing equitable access to all of our programming and events. We are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, equitable, and accessibly organization internally and externally, while also advocating for these core values in the arts and culture community here in Park City, Utah.
Staff Training:
Arts Council staff attended 6 weeks of Breaking Barriers Workshop provided by the Utah Division of Arts & Museums. Breaking Barriers is a Cultural Accessibility Project and is a partnership between Art Access and the Utah Division of Arts & Museums to provide disability accessibility training and mentorship to our state’s cultural institutions. Funded in part by the Katherine W. & Ezekiel R. Dumke Foundation, Breaking Barriers provided 6 weeks of training workshops for staff of Utah cultural organizations. Workshop content was focused on accessibility needs for people with the following disabilities:
● Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing/Deaf-Blind
● Blind and Low Vision
● Physical and Mobility
● Neurodiverse and Sensory
● Developmental
● Learning
Staff participating in the Breaking Barriers project received 12 hours of instruction in addition to consultation provided by Art Access staff (ongoing). Through this work, we are working on developing an accessibility plan that will guide us on how to make our physical spaces, events and organization as a whole more accessible to the disability community.
