    First opening as a venue for Utah folk art in 1986, the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Art has been a valued space of the Utah Division of Arts and Museums for 40 years. In honor of the history of the museum and the artists who have played a vital role in its journey, we are inviting all artists who have worked with our museum to submit artwork proposals for our upcoming exhibition “40 Years of Folk.” This exhibition will showcase the variety of artists involved in exhibitions and programs at our museum to commemorate the past 40 years.     The St. George Plein Air Festival, April 6–11, 2026, is a week-long celebration of outdoor painting hosted by ART Provides with the City of St. George and the St. George Arts Commission.     The 2027 Creative Capital Open Call seeks proposals from individual artists in all 50 states for new artistic works in the Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Film, and Literature. The Creative Capital Award provides unrestricted project grants of up to $50,000 to individual artists to create new work. The new State of the Art Prize provides unrestricted artist grants of $10,000. Learn more here.

    This grant celebrates and invests in the cultural practices and creative expressions that connect communities across the Creative West region.

    Living traditions are cultural practices rooted in community life—passed down through generations, adapted over time, and continually reimagined to meet the needs of the present. They encompass—but are not limited to—folk and traditional arts, craft, music, dance, foodways, oral traditions, storytelling, spiritual practices, and the everyday creative expressions that embody identity, belonging, and resilience. Activities funded through Grants for Arts Projects (GAP) enable Americans throughout the nation to experience the arts, foster and celebrate America’s artistic heritage and cultural legacy, and benefit from arts education at all stages of life.     On July 4, 2026, America will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the nation’s principles of equality, liberty, and government by consent of the governed. Youth Opportunities

There’s a place for young artists here in Utah—and there are countless programs and competitions to help youth forge their own creative path.     The National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Second Lady Usha Vance, has announced the Bookmark Design Challenge: Celebrating America’s 250th — a nationwide opportunity for students in grades K–8.     Young Vocalists Online Competition

    Calling all young singers! The tenth annual Young Vocalists Online Competition is now accepting applications. Competition is open to vocalists ages 13 through 18, and the deadline to enter is April 1. Cash prizes are awarded, as well as detailed written feedback for all contestants. Contestants must submit recordings of two classical or musical theatre solo performances. Learn more here.

    Celebrate the West

    Call for Youth Artists

    Western U.S.

    Celebrate the West is a juried art competition open to high school students (grades 9–12) across Western Governors’ Association states and territories, inviting original two-dimensional artwork inspired by life in the West. Students compete for cash prizes, state and overall recognition, and the opportunity to have their work exhibited online and at the Western Governors’ Association annual meeting.     Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest

This free program allows folk artists from the UA&M Teaching Artists roster to offer hands-on workshops to schools and community groups around the state. Groups can select from a wide range of traditional arts workshops taught by Utah folk artists. You can hold a workshop at the Chase Home Museum in Salt Lake City or arrange to have the artist come to your location. Learn more here.
