Art Connects Us
Art connects us, even across social distances. In an effort to keep our community inspired and engaged during this time, we wanted to encourage you to do something creative each day in the upcoming weeks.
So we launched a social media campaign, #ArtConnectsUs, that focuses on a different creative theme throughout each week. So far we’ve explored museums from home, we’ve seen live performances from local musicians on Facebook and Instagram Live, we shook off the anxiety with Social Dis-dance-ing, and encouraged you to send a handwritten card made by a local artist to a friend of a loved one. We’ve got plenty more creative activities and inspiration coming up in the next few weeks, so make sure you follow us @pcscarts on Facebook and Instagram to stay connected.
Art and culture is a positive light that is needed now more than ever. Art inspires us and can move us emotionally and intellectually in a time of uncertainty, anxiety and stagnation. Creative activities can relieve stress, aid in communication, connection and arrest cognitive decline. Research shows that art literally makes us feel better.
So let’s embrace art and the creative sector right now. Explore your own creativity. Try virtual art classes, engage with artists on social media and visit their online studios, be inspired by virtual museums and gallery visits. There are a lot of online resources out there to keep you busy right now. Support the arts organizations, local non-profits, and businesses that enrich our lives and enhance our community. Individual actions make a difference, if you can, give at pcscarts.org/donate. We will pull through this together as a community. Art never stops.
