Accepting concepts for creating outdoor interactive gondola interiors that reflect the theme “Winter Wonderland.”
PROJECT GOALS:
Canyons Village Management Association (‘CVMA’) is seeking 5 Utah-based artists/artist teams to creatively decorate the interior of inactive gondolas. The gondolas will be stationed around the Canyons Village Base Area at Park City Mountain Resort, and will invite resort guests to peer through the gondola windows; those who do will be greeted by a magical winter wonderland scene created by a local Utah visual artist. Each gondola will have a QR code display on the exterior of the gondola giving guests access to artist information, what to find in that specific gondola, and a map of the other gondolas throughout Canyons Village. Each gondola will have a provided 60”x69” plywood platform that must be decorated with unique artwork. Ideal proposals will include:
Winter/Holiday themes.
Element(s) of movement.
Sculptural/3-dimensional aspects that fit the 60”x69” plywood platform. The platform will be placed inside the gondola, and the installation must fit between the platform and the ceiling of the gondola. Full dimensions of the provided Gondola are shown at the end of this Call.
Festive Lighting is encouraged and welcomed (Basic interior lighting and shore power will be provided).
Hidden objects for guests to find as part of a Gondola Art Walk scavenger hunt (objects will be specified by CVMA team- this could include snowmen, skis, and other Winter-themed objects, etc.).
Content appropriate for all ages.
Please note: All installed elements must be attached with removable elements that do not damage the interior of the gondola, including the paint and seats.
PROJECT BUDGET:
A budget of $4,000 per gondola is inclusive of artists’ fees, materials, labor, insurance (artist agreement will require either worker’s comp insurance or waiver), and equipment to design and produce artwork, artwork installation, and travel costs including ground transportation. The exterior of the gondola will be wrapped by CVMA.
