Egyptian Theatre Brings Mamma Mia! A Story of Love, Friendship and Laughter to Park City
ABBA’s music comes to life in the feel-good story of Mamma Mia! Their catchy tunes and upbeat blend of disco and pop tells the story of love, friendship and laughter in this hit broadway production. Just recently, licensing rights became available to theatres across North America to produce and perform this musical. The Egyptian Theatre jumped right on the opportunity to bring this musical to Park City.
ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds in a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago. A large cast, non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make Mamma Mia! a guaranteed smash hit for any theatre. A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you'll never forget!
Mamma Mia arrived on Broadway in 2001 and stayed for an incredible 14-year run with 5,758 performances. This musical has been a crowd favorite and household name for years - and it’s no wonder why the Egyptian Theatre wanted to have it.
Amber Hansen, the Artistic & Producing Director at Egyptian Theatre, said that it’s one of many musicals they’ve wanted to do for a long time. “The show takes on a whole different level of professionalism,” said Hansen. “It’s kind of a corny storyline but they really made it into something that is relatable and touching.”
This production includes stand-out performances from an all-local cast, phenomenal dancing, mesmerizing costumes and moments of comedy, honesty and excitement. This family-friendly show is perfect for any fan of ABBA or those who just want to have a good time.
The show will run at the Egyptian Theatre March 22-31, 7:30pm Thursday - Saturdays and 6pm Sundays. Get tickets and more information by visiting the Egyptian Theatre’s website.
