Get Creative and Show Your Artwork at the Summit County Fair
The annual Summit County Fair brings the community together for a week of food, fun, exhibits, demonstrations, contests, and rides. In addition to the demolition derby (always a local's favorite), the livestock showings, the 4H displays, parade, pie baking contest, and the little buckeroo rodeo, the Fair hosts the Fine Arts Tent which gives local artists the opportunity to share their creative work with the public. Admission to all Fair events is free and a full schedule of activities is available on the Fair website.
Fine Arts Exhibit submission categories include photography, oil/acrylic painting, watercolor, graphic arts, sculpture, pottery, glass and metal. Youth (grades 9-12) and adults are eligible for awards and prizes that offer ribbons and cash premium prizes.
Last year more nearly 80 artists submitted over 130 pieces that were seen by more than 1600 visitors.
Summit County residents can drop off artwork for the Fair at the Summit County Library Kimball Junction and Coalville locations during the month of July. After July 31st, artists can check-in work at the Fine Arts Tent at the Coalville Fairgrounds on August 8th from 4-7pm. Judging will occur on Wednesday August 9th and the exhibit will open to the public on Thursday, August 10 and run through Saturday, August 12.
