Leadership Park City Community Lecture
On Monday, March 20 at 7pm in Jim Santy Auditorium, Leadership Park City hosts their 10th annual Community Lecture, this one featuring speaker, David Pottruck, former CEO of Charles Schwab. His book Stacking the Deck: How to Lead Breakthrough Change Against Any Odds, is an honest, practical guide for aspiring leaders.
Pottruck, is the most recent in a long line of remarkable people who have presented at the free Community Lecture series.
According to Myles Rademan, Director of Leadership Park City, “The purpose of starting the Series was to give more back to the broader community, much like the spirit of the annual Leadership 101. Giving back and providing insights are hallmarks of the Leadership program, so these are attempts to broaden the audience.”
Past speakers have included W. Mitchell, a former marine, burn victim, paraplegic, and former mayor of Crested Butte who, from his wheelchair, spoke about his book: It's Not What Happens to You, It's What You Do About It. In 2009, the 'Need For A New Cadre of Citizen Leaders,' was the topic of Dr. Lorraine Matusek, who helped run the Kellogg Leadership Fellowship.
“I've also had Dr. Keven Fickenscher come speak on the health care crisis years before it became popular,” said Rademan. He said that "creativity without empathy can be a great evil".
In 2016 local women leaders, Beth Lohman, Vail Resorts; Donna McAleer, author and former candidate for US House of Representatives; Joy Barrett, former owner of The Expanding Heart; Mary Beth Maziarz, musician, author, and lecturer; Liza Simpson, former PC Councilwoman and business woman; and Nan Chalat Noaker, Editor, Park Record, formed a panel to discuss issues they've confronted in their roles.
Myles Rademan invites all Summit County residents to be part of the widening audience.”I hope we can keep offering interesting and insightful speakers and/or panels that attract community interest and support.”
