A life-long athlete, Melanie Webb was born in Provo and grew up in Orem with epic views of Mount Timpanogos out her bedroom window. She graduated from BYU with a B.S. in Human Biology and Developmental Biology. “I left the area after college and lived in southern Utah for 5 years, Washington, D.C. for 7 years, and California for 2 years before returning home to the Wasatch Mountains.”
Her early career as a wildlife biologist and environmental consultant inspired her to combine her education, passion for fitness and adventure travel into a career that is a perfect match for Park City and vice versa. “I reached a point several years ago where traveling all the time to do guide fitness retreats was no longer fun. But living in Park City lets me bring people to me for their ‘wellness sabbaticals’, so I get to be home and sleep in my own bed at night.”
She helps clients discover fitness is more than just a gym workout - it’s a way of life. Melanie’s primary clients are individuals, couples, and families who need to take a ‘wellness sabbatical’. “They hire me to help them reach their wellness goals, typically over multiple days while on vacation or taking a deliberate ‘time out.’ My specialty with travelers has always been multiple days, anywhere from 3 days to 3 weeks, and I love working with local clients on 1/2 day retreats.”
Melanie’s recently published book Adventures in Mother Nature’s Gym; The Ultimate Guide to Planning and Leading Your Own Outdoor Fitness Retreat is basically a ‘how to’ book to train others. “My primary audience is fitness professionals - personal trainers, spin and yoga instructors, health coaches, etc., but anyone with a passion for health and outdoor recreation will benefit from the book.” The course recently got approved for 1.3 continuing education credits (CEC)’s from the American Council on Exercise (ACE), which fitness pros can apply toward renewing their certification every two years.
Melanie’s book is available on Amazon and more information about the book and her programs can be found on her website: https://webbwell.com/ “WEBBWELL is my vision of what an oasis of wellness can look like in the 21st century, and it’s a compilation of tools to support and guide people as they expand their own mind-body-nature wellness practice.”
