Music on the Library Patio
The remodel of the Park City Library, created a wonderful new indoor facility and an awesome outdoor patio used for a multitude of activities including the newest venue for music in our community.
Kate Mapp, Adult Services Librarian explains, “The 'Music on the Patio' series is a partnership between Park City Library and Mountain Town Music. It's funded by the Friends of the Park City Library and Park City Coffee Roaster (who operates our coffee shop in the library). Our vision is for the library to become the community’s living room of knowledge, opportunity, and innovation. Just as we are incorporating the visual arts into our library space we wanted to include the musical arts and the patio seemed like the perfect space.”
‘Music on the Patio’ occurs on Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 1 pm and will be a great spot for a picnic or a brown bag lunch!
Jean Daley, Co-President of Friends of the Library is excited, “With the warm weather, and all the activities the Library sponsors on Wednesdays anyway, it will be very popular for all age groups. And, with the Coffee Roasters serving beverages and food, attendees can relax indoors or out on the patio or lawn, and enjoy the music.”
According to Library Director, Adrian Herrick Juarez, “The Library’s Mission is to empower minds, inspire imagination, and connect community. The 'Music on the Patio' series does all three, as those who attend have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the pleasure of music to open their minds with other members of the community at their local library.”
The Library Patio provides a great space for reflection and enjoyment and director Juarez thanks the library's partners for making it all possible. “The Library often uses the patio for outdoor children’s programs and, last year, even held the End-of-Summer-Celebration in that space – an outdoor film screening, complete with popcorn and free books. The Park City Library is a great place to celebrate summer and to take part in a myriad of activities as part of our Summer Challenge. Come on in, set your own summer goals, take part in exciting programs, and enjoy!”
