Park City Gallery Spotlight // CREATE PC

This month for our Park City Gallery Spotlight we are featuring the Arts Council’s pop-up retail gallery and studio space at 660 Main St (the old Zoom location), CREATE PC!

CREATE PC is not only a retail gallery and studio space, it’s a local artist collective with an open studio layout that strives to create deeper connections between the viewer and artistic process, enabling local artists opportunities to make work and sell work in the same space.

Mike Sweeney approached the Arts Council with the opportunity to temporarily activate the spaces which had been dark without long term tenants last fall. Wishing to honor the Park City’s Main Street Vibrancy Ordinance and energize the spaces on Main Street, a unique solution was sought. Right now the gallery has 13 local artists who pay a monthly fee to work and sell their pieces in the store, Anna Leigh Moore, Emily Quinn Loughlin, Frances Remillard, Juanita Marshall, Karen Urankar, Karen Millar Kendall, Lisa Shine, Mark Maziarz, Olga Hegner, Pamela Beverley Quigley, Ida Yoked, Carol Granger and Rhonda Hypio. These artists work in a variety of mediums including paint, encaustic, mixed media, photography and more. Here’s what the artists have to say about the space:

“CREATE PC provides invaluable space for local artists to make work and learn from one another, while also engaging the local community. Cultural tourism is a huge part of Park City, and CREATE PC has added a new dimension to this amazing aspect of our town!”

-Emily Quinn Loughlin

“CREATE PC has become a beautiful and welcoming space for me to create and share my passion for clay.  Thank you PCSCARTS for this incredible opportunity!”

-Juanita Marshall

“CREATE PC has been an incredible opportunity for me; not only do I have the pleasure of working in a beautiful, vibrant space, I also get to interact with people in our community, both locals and visitors. In addition, I am able to put my work out there, receive feedback, talk about it, and exhibit and sell as well. What an amazing interface with our community this space has provided for all of us artists!”

-Karen kendall

“I think the building is an uplifting and inspiring space to work in and connect with art lovers.”

- Pamela Beverly Quigley

Being able to walk into this beautiful and cozy space with natural light streaming in the windows and a cozy fireplace, and just leisurely admire the local art, is what makes this space an amazing addition to lower historic Main St. and the Park City artistic community. On any given day, you’ll find artists creating something that you can purchase on the spot from the artist themselves. This provides such a unique experience and allows artists and visitors to form a deeper connection with creativity and the resulting artwork.

Programming and activation events are also happening at the space! For the February Gallery Stroll, the PCSC Arts Council will be hosting a Sip + Stroll event at CREATE PC on Feb. 28th from 6-9pm, where patrons can explore the studio and buy one-of-a-kind pieces from local artists while enjoying delicious cocktails provided by Alpine Distilling. 21+ please, cash bar. And on March 9th, stop in for an Art Therapy & Art Making Workshop with our local CREATE PC artist Ida Yoked. Learn about art therapy and art making on the topics of perception and self image. All materials are included in the $20 registration fee. Register here.
