Summit County Public Art Board & Deer Valley Music Festival Unites to Present an Art Piano Pop-Up Community Concert at Trailside Park

The Summit County Public Art Advisory Board and the Deer Valley Music Festival are excited to present an Art Piano for All Pop-Up Community Concert featuring artists from Utah Symphony | Utah Opera on Saturday, July 31st from 4-4:30pm at Trailside Park, 5715 Trailside Dr, Park City, UT. The performance will be free and open to the public featuring Summit County’s newest Art Piano for All, Abloom, by local artist Anna Leigh Moore. The goal of this concert series is to bring accessible, high caliber music to our community using the Art Pianos for All program as the vehicle.

Paula Fowler, the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera Education and Community Outreach Director says, "We are delighted to partner with the Arts Council, the Summit County Public Art Advisory Board and Art Pianos for All program to present two of our opera artists in performance this summer. Art Pianos has given our artists the opportunity to perform in a variety of surprising venues over the past few years, including last year safely from the back of a truck bed in various locations throughout the community. Our artists look forward to performing with the newest art piano at Trailside Park on July 31st." The goal of this free concert along with other community pop-ups in collaboration with different local partners is to give a heartfelt thank you to Park City and Summit County residents for welcoming the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera for its summer residency in Park City at the Deer Valley Music Festival this summer. This “pop-up” concert provides access for community members to professional musicians and music-making – and is a rewarding way for Utah Symphony musicians to be highlighted as soloists and smaller ensembles.

Art Pianos for All is a program managed by the Summit County Public Art Board, which seeks to bring back the piano as a centerpiece of music, community, art and fun in Summit County, UT. Artist decorated pianos are placed in public areas to be played and enjoyed by all. This year’s concert will be on our newest Art Piano for All at Trailside Park, designed by Anna Leigh Moore. As a lover of local Utah plants, Anna’s design incorporates an assortment of plants native to the Utah area including sego lily, wasatch penstemon, avalanche lily, balsamroot, wild mint, globemallow, indian paintbrush, prickly pear, sage, rabbitbrush, sunflower, lupine and fireweed against a backdrop of vivid blue. She wanted her design to highlight this action of zooming in on the wildlife that surrounds us to focus on the beauty in our community. The piano’s Trailside location is integral to the design, encouraging community members to notice the biodiversity in their backyard.

On Saturday July 31st from 4-4:30pm, Utah Opera Artists, Tenor Addison Marlor and Pianist Taylor Burkhardt will perform on Abloom, the newest Art Piano for All located at Trailside Park. The pop-up performance is made possible by the support of the Park City Sunrise Rotary Club. "This is an especially exciting performance for the Summit County public art board as it activates a brand new art piano that has been added to the collection, and it's one of our first in-person performances after more than a year of social distancing." explains Executive Director of the Arts Council, Jocelyn Scudder.
