The Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-A-Long Showcases Park City's Talent
The Egyptian Theatre has long been a premier social and artistic hub in Park City. The theatre has had a long-standing mission to provide the community with high-quality entertainment, both on and off its stage, in a historic and authentic atmosphere that is both friendly and socially-welcoming.
Live theatrical performances have long been a centerpiece of Park City's culture. In the late 1800s, the ornate Park City Opera House was located near the current site of the Egyptian Theatre. However, on a disastrous June night in 1898, a fire was started, and the blaze quickly consumed most of the town, including the Opera House. In a determined effort to restore live theatre to the town, the Dewey Theatre soon opened its doors in 1899 on the site of what is now known as the Egyptian Theatre. After many reconstructions and various names later, we have arrived at what is currently known as the Egyptian Theatre.
The Theatre has always welcomed an array of performers that range from professional theater and dance companies to world-class musicians, singers and comedians. However, arguably the most important aspect of the theater is the featured performances that showcase Park City-area talent. This is specifically prevalent in the Park City Holiday Spectacular & Sing-Along. The show is presented as a winter talent showcase. It aims to showcase the diverse talents of those in the Park City area. In the 1st year of the show, it ran for two nights but due to the overwhelming amount of talented people auditioning, the event has been moved to three nights ever since. With the amount of talent that the theater wants to feature, each night of the show is a unique experience.
If you are from the local area, you will recognize a lot of the people who take the stage in this winter showcase but if you’re not, you will come to recognize just how talented the people of the Park City area are. You will also quickly see that the show is an all-ages variety show with many different ages and acts being presented. Often there are performances ranging from singing to dancing to those as young as 5 performing on stage at the Egyptian Theater.
This year’s event runs from Friday, December 13th through Sunday, December 15th. If you are looking for an event to celebrate the season with family and friends, there is no better event to be at. For more information about the Park City Holiday Spectacular & Sing-Along, visit this LINK
