The Rocky Horror Show at the Egyptian

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW will be performed live on The Egyptian stage November 8-17, by Ziegfeld Theatre Company.

Director Eb Madson, a Utah native, has deep roots with the company. At age16 he played with improv troops all across the state and later helped form and manage an improv troop with now Ziegfeld owner, Caleb Parry. “We called it "Off the Wall" and it ran for over a decade. Eventually I went to school and earned my BFA in acting from the University of Utah's actor training program. Upon graduation, I studied with Circle in the Square in New York, and then went on to get my MFA in theater from Ohio University.”

Madson  lived in New York as an equity actor for about five years, working mainly in theaters on the east coast but eventually moved home to find the improv troop he helped start had evolved into the Ziegfeld Theater. He has performed and directed many times for the Ziegfeld, and now is the Artist Director.

Madson loves this production of ROCKY HORROR SHOW, but if forced to pick a favorite scene, it would be the one at the Frankenstein place. “Its so cool to do a number in the dark, then add the audience with their glowsticks. It makes for a really cool experience.”

The production has been running for several weeks in Ogden, home of the Ziegfeld Company and even had a couple of midnight showings on the schedule. “Our midnight show was a blast. Everyone in the crowd was into it! A lot of the more 'die-hard' fans of Rocky Horror came out and it showed.”

Many of those 'die-hards' have seen the picture show version but the live version was a brand new experience. “The movie is very fun and a cult classic but seeing a show like this live is electric! It's a night out of naughty fun, rock n roll and debauchery. What's not to like?”
