Upcoming Fun at O.P. Rockwell
O.P. Rockwell is a community staple. The man himself, Orrin Porter Rockwell, was a Wild West historical figure and personal bodyguard to Joseph Smith. The namesake, a cocktail lounge on Main Street, Park City, is only fitting. This winter, the O.P Rockwell team is doing everything they can to safely program shows.
We caught up with Xania Woodman, the General Manager at O.P. Rockwell, to help us break down some upcoming events:
On Thursdays (including tomorrow Feb 11th!): Aprés at The Rock featuring Ian Camp, David Hocking, and Friends at the Rockwell Listening Room. Register here.
On Friday, Feb 13th: Be My Golden Valentine, featuring Gold Standard, a funky jazz trio. Xania says, “This event will be held downstairs in O.P. Rockwell Cocktail Lounge & Music Hall, which now features a cutting-edge air purifier, social distancing, masking, sanitizer on every table, etc. Doors 7 p.m. and the music begins at 8 p.m. General admission and VIP tables available for booking at OPRockwell.com"
On other Fridays (except 2.13), you’ll usually catch Gold Standard, a funky jazz trio, at Friday Nights on the Town. Gold Standard is bridging the gap between old-school jazz, soul, and electronic music. Here’s the evite for 2.19.
Every so often, A Coat of Many Colors, A Dolly Parton Tribute Show Starring Jason CoZmo will play Friday nights instead. Catch them next on February 26th, with tickets available here.
Finally, on Wednesday’s O.P. Rockwell, there are two alternating weekly events. On February 10th and 24th, Local Artist Malia Denali hosts “Brushes and Crushes: A Guided Painting Wine Social.” Each week has a different theme, and Park City native and local artist Malia, who is known for her work on canvas painting and with large-scale metal sculpture, is sure to impress. Tickets here.
Last but not least, KSL’s Joe Davis hosts a Brain Freeze Pub Quiz every other Wednesday. “Grab your "pod" or #quaranteam and battle it out together (no phones, now!) through several rounds of brain-tickling trivia, including current events, entertainment, and even an audio round." Register here for 2.17:
There is no shortage of fun to be had at O.P. Rockwell this winter. Xania says, “the community can best The Rock team by coming out and catching a show if they feel healthy and up to it. The performers and the staff are working very hard every day to create something worthwhile in a time of great challenge. We'd love to see their beautiful masked faces in our socially-distanced seats!”
