What's New at Our Local Art Galleries
Coming off a snowy start to the new year, January is the perfect time to jump back into the arts and culture scene. One of the easiest ways to take part is by joining the Park City Gallery Association’s monthly gallery strolls. Mark your calendars for the last Friday of every month from six to nine for an evening of art, food, drinks and music all while taking a stroll along Main Street.
This month’s gallery stroll promises to showcase what’s new and upcoming for 2023. If you’re unable to make the trek up to Main Street, here’s what’s new at some of your local galleries:
Summit Gallery - Summit Gallery is excited to be featuring mixed media artist Timothy White this month. Stop by the gallery at 675 Main Street to check out White’s new pieces and see more of his work here.
Montgomery-Lee Fine Art - Montgomery-Lee invites you to check out their featured artist of the month Elizabeth Robbins. Best known for her classic floral Still Life paintings, make sure to stop by 608 Main Street on your stroll or preview Robbin’s work here.
Gallery MAR- Gallery MAR is excited to be hosting the opening of their monthly artist exhibition the same night as Gallery Stroll. Stop by Gallery MAR to check out Jylian Gustlin’s “Mater Natura” collection and enjoy live music and light refreshments while you’re there. Preview Gustlin’s work here.
JGO Galleries - Previously known as JGO Gallery, JGO Galleries has seen changes within the last few months. Apart from their name change, JGO has secured a new location on the upstairs level of 323 Main Street. Folks can enjoy their current exhibition, Wild and Wonderful: New Work by Tiffany Ownbey and Susdan LeVan.
David K. Beavis Fine Art - David K. Beavis Fine Art Gallery is excited to be hosting their Winter Gallery Exhibition the same night as this month’s gallery stroll. Showcasing Beavis’s new large-format images featuring Aspen trees and beautiful winter scenes. To learn more about the event click here.
Meyer Gallery - Meyer Gallery has an assortment of new exhibitions coming down the pipeline this year. Hosting three solo artist exhibitions in February including Brian Kershisnik, Jenna Von Benedikt and Jeffery Pugh as well as a small painting show with Fatima Ronquillo and Adalynne Ellsworth. Make sure to look through their events calendar and follow their socials to keep up.
Susan Swartz Gallery - Susan Swartz Gallery is excited to be showcasing a series of prints by Daniel Rohner, Director of award-winning film Navalny. While filming, Rohner developed a series of works titled Navalny: A Kaleidoscopic (Making Of) in 10 Collages, a series of drawings, paintings, doodles, and gum wrappers from 18 sketchbooks created from September 2020 and June 2022. Julie Nester Gallery - Julie Nester Gallery is starting off the year with their newest exhibition titled “History”, a series of photographs by David Levinthal. On display until February 22nd, Levinthal’s series features photographs of carefully constructed scenes reminiscent of historical events. Head over to 1280 Iron Horse Drive for Levinthal’s artist reception from 5:30 to 7:30 on Gallery Stroll Night.
Kimball Art Center -Having launched their three-part exhibition series Between Life and Land back in December, the Kimball Art Center is presenting this series for the remainder of 2023. Stop by prior to April 9th to enjoy this first exhibit of the series titled Between Life and Land: Material. Featuring works created from “direct engagement with earthen forms and materials” this exhibit includes ten artists and aims to dissect our connections to place and time.
