Community Celebrates the Newly Constructed Kamas Library
Having been raised in the Kamas Valley, I was THRILLED to hear about the construction of the new library in Kamas. I have fond memories in the old library building, and am looking forward to creating memories in this new library.
I am not alone in my excitement! Steve and Tami Morrison, residents of Kamas Valley for 25 years, are both glad for the opportunities the new building will bring to the community. In an interview, Tami said that she is “excited for a larger book selection, and more amenities, which will make it possible for the new library to be more of a gathering place for the community.” With inviting nooks and corners to settle into, brightly colored furnishings, beautiful wooden beams reminiscent of its surroundings, and bright natural light spilling in from large windows this new building is the ideal gathering place for the community.
In light of the opening, the “Back to Zero!” program has been put in place for patrons of the Kamas Library. Lee Whiting, Manager at the Kamas Library says “now through June 16th, we are announcing our fine amnesty program, ‘Back to Zero!’. As a way of thanking you for your patience during our absence and welcoming you back to the library, we are waiving all fines on delinquent accounts for Kamas patrons. Please visit us by June 16th to set your account ‘Back to Zero!’, renew your library card or get a new one!”
Come see it for yourself! There will be an open house on June 16 from 10am - 2pm to celebrate the opening of the new library. Also, be sure to check out the library website here to see what activities are right for you. We hope to see you there!
