CreatePC Pop-Up Retail Gallery and Studio is Re-Open at 660 Main St.
We are thrilled to announce the reopening of Create PC, the Art Council’s pop-up retail gallery and studio, located at 660 Main Street in downtown Park City!
After Covid19 closures, Create PC will launch a reopening in June on Thursday-Sunday evenings from 12pm-6pm with its outdoor market. Most importantly, Create PC will adhere to social distancing guidelines and make use of the patio spaces and open layout to feature local artists. Create PC allows for a shared space where featured artists will both create and sell their art!
Disposable masks will be available and required in the indoor Create PC spaces.
Our artists are most looking forward to returning to the Create PC gallery space:
Ceramic artist, Juanita Marshall, says, “I am excited to get back to our beautiful studio space and get my hands in clay again. I am looking forward to connecting with the other artists and staff to see how they managed with the weeks of social distancing. With much time at home the urge to simplify, condense and clear out some accumulations got me thinking about a potential 'minimalist challenge' I might develop for myself to see how it affects the pieces I make.”
Photographer Mark Maziarz is thrilled to return to the gallery space because he, “loves simply talking with people about art. Whether it's visitors who are just looking around, or collectors that are buying, or especially the other artists in the space, it's just fun to talk about art and its effect on all of us.”
Finally, Alisha Niswander, who has been busy making masks for staff and volunteers at Create PC, writes, “Create PC is a community gathering space. I am looking forward to the opportunities provided by Create PC to bring locals and tourists alike together for the sake of art.”
The Covid19 pandemic has led to altered inspiration, process, and medium for our artists. Mark Maziarz writes, “the largest effect the pandemic has had so far is that it has cleared my calendar, which has led me to experiment with new ways of applying the epoxy resin that's common in a lot of my pieces, as well as letting me get out and shoot some unusual photographs, like Cowboy Jim riding his horse down an empty Main Street.” For Alisha Niswander, who had previously “sold her handmade hats and upcycled mittens at Create PC,” the pandemic allowed her to, “shift her skills and start making masks with a filter for our community. So far she has made about 300 masks.” She says, “I am happy to have had the opportunity to protect our community and continue to create.”
The reopening of Create PC is exciting for the community, and provides an excellent opportunity to shop local and support local artists. We look forward to seeing you in June, Thursday-Sunday evenings from 12pm-6pm at Create PC at 660 Main St.
