Monster Drawing Rally // A Creative Event for Artists and Collectors
Get ready for some creative chaos! The Park City Monster Drawing Rally is back on Thursday, May 31 from 6-9:30pm at the Kimball Art Center (1401 Kearns Blvd., Park City, UT).
Nope, it’s not a sports drink or truck jamboree, Monster Drawing Rally is a live drawing event and party presented by PCSC Arts Council and the Kimball Art Center that allows spectators to spy on the creative process, build relationships with local artists, and grow their art collections.
“It’s a whirlwind evening of artmaking that spotlights the artistic talent alive and well in Park City”, says Hadley Dynak, Executive Director of the Arts Council. “This is the second time we’ve partnered with the Kimball to produce the event which is a perfect mash-up of our two missions. You definitely don’t want to miss out.”
Throughout the night, groups of artists will draw and make 2D artwork in 50 minute shifts. Finished drawings are immediately available for purchase at $50 each. Just like last year’s event, luck of the draw decides the winner of any piece with more than one bidder. All proceeds go to event production costs and future creative community programming.
A new addition to this year’s event is a silent auction for guests who don’t win the luck of the draw. Many of the participating artists will bring artwork for auction, and silent bidding will take place during the event in the KAC studios. 60% of the silent auction proceeds go directly back to the artists.
Over thirty incredible local artists will participate in this year's event. Artists include Ali Mitchell, Amy MacDonald, Anna Moore, Blake Peterson, Bridgette Meinhold, Christopher Brown, Clinton Whiting, Danielle Powers, Ely Kauffman, Gabrielle Wolfe, Heather Stamenov, Jane Riley, Jean Glaser, Jimmi Toro, Juan Pablo Gasca, Karen Kendall, Kevin Arthofer, Kristen Mitchell, Kylie Millward, Laurie Eastwood, Libby Peterkort, Mark Maziarz, Michael Calles, Michal Patton, Nan Gray, Parker Jones, Renee Mox Hall, Russell Blackwell, Sara Shepherd Edgar, Tori Olson, and Zia Terry.
In addition to live art making, there will be music by DJ Finale provided by Skullcandy, and light bites provided by Cafe Trio, Twisted Fern, Done to Your Taste, Riverhouse Provisions, and Boneyard Saloon. A cash bar will also be available.
Tickets to the event are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. Kids under 10 are free. Ticket sales are limited, so be sure to purchase in advance to secure your spot! See you there.
