Summer Preview // Outdoor Markets Opening in June

Mark Twain once said “nothing helps scenery like bacon and eggs.” As a bit of a food enthusiast myself, I’d have to say that I agree with Mr. Twain on this, however I might swap the bacon for fresh locally grown sweet corn, and warm fresh-baked artisan bread. Lucky for us, the outdoor markets throughout Park City make it possible to have it all! You can have your “bacon and eggs” while enjoying a view like none other.

There are three outdoor markets in Park City: Park City Farmers Market, Park Silly Sunday Market, and Copper Moose Farm Stand. They each have something unique to offer, yet they all strive to provide only the best local produce and products.

Park City Farmer’s market provides the classic farmer’s market experience with booths full of goods from local artisans, and beautiful fresh produce on display by local farmers. The first thing that always strikes me at this market is the smell of Volker’s Bakery breads waft in the air. This year the market has a new location! They can be found by the Silver King Resort parking lot every Wednesday from 12pm-5pm starting June 6th-October 31.

Park Silly Sunday Market has a unique flair that is all its own! Their mission statement explains that it is “an eco-friendly open air market, street festival, and community forum where neighbors and friends come together to celebrate our commUnity of fun and funky Park Sillians.” Not only do they offer many opportunities to eat, shop, exercise, and enjoy many forms of art, but they do all that they can to eliminate as much waste as possible. Last year they recycled 23,569 lbs of trash, and gave 12,760 lbs of food that had been thrown away to local pigs! Join the community every Sunday from 10am-5pm starting June 3rd-September 23rd.

Copper Moose Farm is perhaps the most picturesque of them all. Tucked away just off Old Ranch Road, Copper Moose Farm provides the perfect quaint country setting. The “Farm Stand,” where you can purchase organic produce and stunning flowers grown on the farm, is open every week on Tuesday and Thursday from 12pm-6pm, and Saturday from 9am-3pm starting June-October.
