Park City Film Will Screen ‘Who She Is’ on Oct. 12th
Come to the Jim Santy Auditorium this Thursday at 7pm for a free film screening and evening of discussion around an urgent and ongoing crisis. “Who She Is” tells the story of four individual women caught in the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) epidemic. By bringing these missing women to life on screen, through animation and first-person storytelling, the documentary aims to humanize the people behind the statistics. Audiences will learn each woman’s loves and losses and will come to know their story. Through these women, the documentary shines a light on the wider MMIW epidemic and gendered violence in Wyoming and beyond.
Park City Film’s Executive Director Katharine Wang states "We are honored to be able to shine a light on the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women epidemic and gender-based violence through this screening. We hope that the film and post-film discussions increase our community's understanding and awareness of these issues and inspire action."
The screening will include a post-film Q&A with directors Jordan Dresser (Northern Arapahoe) and Sophie Barksdale and film participant Lucie Washakie (Eastern Shoshone), followed by small group community conversations facilitated by Mountain Mediation. Refreshments will be served for the small group discussion participants after the film. To learn more and register for (free) tickets, click here.
Who She Is is presented in partnership with Peace House and Mountain Mediation. The Raising Voices Film Series is supported in part with grant funding from Park City Chamber, Summit County RAP Tax and Utah Humanities. Advance registration is requested, but not required.
