Park City Public Art Board's Favorite Local Pieces // Symphony of Movement
In this blog series we feature Park City Public Art Board Members favorite local art pieces. See public art through new eyes and experience what makes these pieces so special according to our Public Art Board members. Once you’ve read our blog, go experience these public art pieces for yourself!
In this blog post we feature a favorite from Park City Public Art Board Member, Pamela Bingham. Her favorite Park City Public Art piece is the "Symphony of Movement," created by Joshua Wiener and located at Quinn’s Junction in Park City.
Pamela took a studio art sculpture course in college, and says that one of the things that she finds so striking about the piece is the scale and fabricating that went into developing it. The piece is composed of 160 aluminum poles, each pole is about 50 pounds and 20 feet long.
In a past interview with Scott Iwasaki from the Park Record, Joseph has said that “Using art as a vehicle of communication was his biggest draw.” Wiener says that “Art does this in ways that are very outside everyday thinking... you’re able to communicate in a more rooted fashion, where it’s more emotional and spiritual. I wanted to create things that would inspire people, but also be able to do it in an environment where people don’t have to go out to a museum to have an artistic experience."
