Summit County Art Collection Travels to Park City
Celebrate Winter by visiting the Park City Library for their Winter Art Exhibition, featuring the Summit County Traveling Art Exhibit.
The Park City Library hosts art exhibitions year round to expose residents to new art forms and ideas, to foster creativity and inspire curiosity, and to provide exhibition opportunities for the artistic community.
With the mission of celebrating and uniting Summit County through art, it is with great pleasure that the Summit County Public Art Advisory Board presents the Summit County Art Collection Traveling Exhibition at the Park City Library. The show is currently on view through February 25, 2018.
Summit County is a place of unsurpassed beauty, long acknowledged as an exceptional place to live, work, and play. Summit County is also a place of great art. For decades artists have found their muse in the exquisite scenery, rich history, and spirited citizenry of Summit County.
Summit County has amassed an outstanding collection of paintings through acquisitions made by Summit County Commissioners at the annual Summit County Fair Art Show and the generous donations of Summit County residents. Nineteen of these paintings have been selected by the Park City Library and the Summit County Public Art Advisory Board for a traveling exhibition. The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight the artistic talents of the community and to celebrate the County’s rich landscape and heritage.
The Winter Art Exhibition also features works by Heather Stamenov. The local artist is an observational painter, passionate about the tactility of paint, color relationships and mark making. “The two different art collections capture what Park City and Summit County are like in winter. Stamenov has clear snow theme that will likely make anyone smile. The Summit County Public Art collection shows a variety of county landmarks from the Silver King Coal Mine covered in snow to a traffic jam in Kamas,” states Kate Map, Adult Services Librarian.
