The Park City Musuem brings an Exhibit on Women's Suffrage
2020 marks the 100th year anniversary of the 19th amendment which gave women the right to vote in the United States.
As part of their celebration of women's suffrage, Park City Museum has an exhibit honoring Nina Allender, whose activist spirit and artistic talent played a key role in propelling the movement forward.
Allender, (1873 – April 2, 1957) an organizer, speaker, and campaigner for women's suffrage, became the official cartoonist for a publication created in 1913 called 'The Suffragist'. She brought a new spirit and a new face to the movement by transforming the stereotype of the course, belligerent woman with her depiction of an attractive, capable woman known as the “Allender Girl”.
The Tozier Gallery is lined with a series of photographs, drawings and information plaques outlining Allender's accomplishments and examples of her work. The exhibit remains on display at Park City Museum now through January 13.
