Whether you’re an experienced craftsperson on the Martha Stewart level, or simply one who appreciates the handiwork of those who create beauty, here are some ideas for a day filled with creative endeavors in the Park City-Summit County community.
ALL THAT GLITTERS
Traditionally-trained goldsmith Melissa Skarsten designs and creates contemporary jewelry under her Jewelry by Melissa line. Her distinct style is inspired by memories of old-growth forests and endless subjects provided by nature – flowers, leaves, trees, and riverbeds. Each piece inspires the next, emulating nature and human individuality while sparking a personal connection and emotion. Melissa’s creations are available at the Kimball Art Center gift shop and through her website.
RSB Designs showcases the whimsical and edgy designs of Park City based jewelry maker, Ron S. Butkovich. Primarily using the techniques of lost wax and fabrication, Ron delights in the unpredictable use of traditional materials, including precious metals and stones, looking to the natural world for inspiration to create organic pieces for both every day and special occasions.
Deep Roots: Established in 1988, RSB Designs is located in the historic district of Park City, Utah, RSB's showroom is in the same building that once housed an old-fashioned general store run by Ron’s grandparents. Among his many community involvements, Ron is an active member of Park City’s historical society.
