Free concerts
Summit County knows how to party in the summer. All season long there are free outdoor concerts where you can enjoy the fresh mountain air and some live music. Here’s a roundup of some of the concert series. Check Mountain Town Music for a full list of all concerts and events.
Miner’s Plaza: On Saturday afternoons, head to Main Street in Park City for shows by singer-songwriters, string bands, and jazz ensembles – all while soaking up the charm of downtown.
Canyons Village at Park City Mountain: On Thursday and Saturday evenings at 6pm, enjoy various bands and musical acts in a large outdoor amphitheater.
Billy Blanco’s: One exit west of Park City you’ll find the Quarry Village stage where free shows take place on Sunday evenings in August.
Grand Valley Bank Community Concert Series: On Wednesday evenings, Deer Valley Resort hosts a free concert series that has become a local tradition. Enjoy some of Utah’s finest musicians in a stunning mountain setting.
Woodenshoe Park: The small town of Peoa hosts a big summer tradition on Friday nights. Explore a charming town and enjoy a show.
Get your tickets: The Dejoria Center, a state-of-the-art concert facility outside of Kamas, hosts paid and free shows throughout the year. See Ziggy Marley on June 16 and Candlebox on September 15, among others. Food and alcohol are served.
Summer screen time
Head to Park City and grab a free movie – al fresco. Basin Recreation sponsors outdoor movies on weekends throughout the summer around town. Showings start at dusk so it’s a great way to enjoy summer evenings in the mountains. Bring the family for kid-friendly shows and a fun night out. See show dates and locations here.
Big Stars, Bright Nights
Park City is famous for its annual St. Regis Big Stars, Bright Nights Summer Concert Series. Throughout July and August, as well as the first weekend of September, you can see big names perform on an open-air stage against the stunning backdrop of summertime mountains. See stars like Grace Potter (July 13) and The Wallflowers (August 24) perform in the concert series’ 15th season. Most shows will be held at Quinn’s Junction Sports Complex in Park City, UT. Deer Valley Concert Series
The mountains are full of music, and you can see an exciting lineup of musicians at the first ever Deer Valley Concert Series. Big names like The Decemberists (August 2), Gavin Degraw (August 9), and Jason Mraz (September 3) will put on unforgettable shows at the beautiful Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheater at Deer Valley Resort. Concessions are available, or you can bring a picnic to enjoy while you listen. It’s Showtime!
The Egyptian Theatre is Park City’s premier stage performance venue. See concerts, comedy, dance, and plays year-round. For example, from July 6-29, The Who’s Tommy will be presented by the Ziegfeld Theater Company. This one-of-a-kind musical is based on The Who’s rock opera album, Tommy, and won five Tony’s including “Best Original Score.” As a young boy, Tommy experienced trauma which had major repercussions on his mental, physical, and emotional health. See this story of hardships, healing and the human spirit – all to the tune of pinball, dancing and rock music.
The Egyptian Theatre is a beloved hallmark of Park City culture. There’s nothing like a live show during the summer!
What’s in a name? The Egyptian Theatre got its name from its distinctive Egyptian-inspired features. When the theatre was first built in 1922, it was heavily influenced by the recent discovery of King Tut’s tomb. An egyptologist oversaw the installation of lotus leafs, scarabs and hieroglyphics. Since then, it’s changed names multiple times, but now, the Egyptian Theatre is a local legacy.
Hit the big screen
If you’re a film buff – or even just a movie-lover – the Park City Film Series needs to make it onto your itinerary. PCFS is a single screen, independent art house cinema that presents an eclectic, cultured variety of films to the community. Their screenings include independent feature, documentary, world and local cinema. Check their schedule to see what’s playing while you’re visiting. Catch a box office hit, a smart classic, or a thought-provoking documentary.
Summer Symphony
The Deer Valley Music Festival is all about beautiful performances in a beautiful setting. At the base of Deer Valley Resort, the Utah Symphony has an 8-week series featuring high quality musicians of all genres. Come enjoy incredible shows by artists like Kristin Chenoworth (July 21) and Ricky Skaggs (July 14) as well as performances of legendary music by ABBA (July 13), John Williams (July 28), and Pink Floyd (August 11). A wild, wild night
Hold onto your hats because July 4–8 is rodeo time in Oakley! Catch this quintessential western show complete with ropin’, ridin’, and buckin’ broncos. Celebrate America by cheering on barrel racers, steer wrestlers and bull riders at the Oakley Independence Day Rodeo. Stick around, because after the rodeo each night, there’s a breathtaking fireworks show.
