Mindful Cuisine: Bringing Culture and Culinary Together in Park City
Mindful Cuisine provides the Park City community with the opportunity to not only explore a variety of new foods, but also with new ways to prepare and cook food. The founder of Mindful Cuisine, Chef Linda Elbert, originally started her business in Laguna Beach, California and moved to Park City full time in 2015.
Chef Elbert set out to find her place in the world of food and eventually founded Mindful Cuisine. On her way there she went on a few detours, she taught at Laguna Culinary Arts, worked as a personal chef, did catering, developed recipes for olive oil and spice companies, offered "underground" Basement Table dinners, and began teaching cooking classes oriented around seasonal, local, and sustainably-produced ingredients.
Mindful Cuisine offers scheduled and private events. At scheduled events, you can sign up to make meals created by Chef Elbert in a group setting with like minded foodies. At private events, you choose what you’ll make for your next office party or team building event, family gathering, club meeting, or reunion. After each event, you’ll receive recipes and tips to recreate the items at home.
This summer, Mindful Cuisine is offering outdoor cooking classes. The outdoor classes offer the opportunity to learn how to use and optimize several types of outdoor cooking equipment - the Big Green, a gas grill and an Uuni pizza oven. All classes focus on using seasonal, local, sustainably produced ingredients. The classes include a variety of cuisines - Spanish, Italian, Middle Eastern, Thai and American. Mindful Cuisine will offer three Garden on the Grill classes which will focus extensively on Park City’s growing season by sourcing ingredients from local farms, gardens and farmers markets. In addition, Mindful Cuisine only uses local artisan food products. Chef Elbert’s is particularly looking forward to these classes.
“I am very excited about the summer classes at Mindful Cuisine. Most of the classes have some outdoor cooking component, which I love. The kitchen at Mindful Cuisine has a stupendous view of the mountains and it is great to be outdoors enjoying the blue skies and summer sun as much as possible. We love the winter but summer in Park City is magical!” said Chef Elbert
These classes are great for visitors who want to learn about the area, as well as for locals looking for new ideas in cooking locally produced foods. Click here to look at events coming up and for more information.
