Celebrating with a glass of wine

TASTE ART ADVENTURE

Adventures for the Foodie

While you might not have come here solely to dine, you’re gonna have to eat, so make it count! Here are some insights into the great gustatory offerings in the Park City area – from haute cuisine to locals’ favorites off the beaten path.

Coffee

Coffee from down under

You might be surprised to learn that the charming American town of Park City is home to three separate Australia-based coffee shops. And, the locals have definitely adopted them as their own. Campos Coffee (1385 Lowell Ave) found its first US home in Park City because of its local engagement and ethical business community. Campos believes that coffee only tastes great when it’s ethically and sustainably made, so they maintain a close partnership with their suppliers to ensure their business is helping those remote communities.

Harvest is another favorite among residents with locally-roasted coffee and all-natural, in-season cuisine. Harvest sources many ingredients from local farmers and small-scale producers to keep their meals fresh and support the local economy. Try the buddha bowl or toasted paleo banana bread. You’ll find Harvest at 8120 Park Ave.

At Five5eeds, you’ll find an American version of the Australian “brekkie,” or all-day breakfast joint. Their food is in-season and locally-sourced, but still distinctly Australian. Besides imported Australian coffee, try their famous Shakshouka (Moroccan baked eggs, goat kurd and a spice blend called dukkah). Visit Five5eeds at 1600 Snow Creek Dr.

Hamburger and Shake

Tried & True

For a classic burger, fries and a shake, Polar King in Oakley is the place to go. With a retro feel, large portions, and a quintessential menu, Polar King is a great stop on a summer day in an iconic western town. The decor even features scenes of the surrounding area by local artists and photographers. With both outdoor and indoor seating options, you can enjoy the surrounding vista – and your milkshake – however you prefer.

Tomatoes

So fresh

Your first thought for a lunch stop might not be a farmer’s market, but that’s probably because you’ve never been to the one in Park City. Every Wednesday from 12 pm to 5 pm you can head to the base of Park City Mountain for a variety of fresh produce, handmade foods, and a great atmosphere. The market features local goods from Utah farmers and vendors and is very selective about the freshness and quality of its fare. No GMO food is allowed, and all farms are inspected before they are allowed to participate.

Besides stocking up on fresh produce, herbs, and secret recipes, you can browse handcrafted goods, listen to musicians and grab a coffee. The Farmer’s Market runs June through October.

Secret Stash: Cheers to the Farmer’s Market Did we mention there’s a beer garden, too? Grab a drink and enjoy a summer afternoon in the mountains. Snag a homemade snack like bread or popcorn to go with your beverage and top off the experience.
