Park City Gallery Spotlight // Terzian Galleries

We are pleased to introduce Terzian Galleries as our October gallery feature! Our monthly blog series showcases all of our wonderful Park City galleries on a rotating basis. 

Every month we tell the story of a local gallery and the gallerists and artists behind them. For this month’s spotlight we spoke with the Director of Terzian Galleries, Candy Baron. Terzian Galleries represents established and emerging artists with a contemporary spin. The gallery is located in historic Old Town Park City, Utah at 625 Main St. Founded by Karen Terzian  in 2004,The gallery prides itself in representing highly regarded artists from around the region.

Pools, Patios and the Invention of the American Backyard // A Park City Museum Exhibit

Many changes swept through the United States in the post WWII era and one of them was the invention of the American Backyard. Through November, Park City Museum's Tozer Gallery is hosting an interesting Smithsonian traveling exhibition explaining many aspects of the late 40's and 50's lifestyle which lead to the desire for and development of those pools, patios, picnic areas of personal backyard space.

Local Artist Spotlight // Samantha DaSilva

Since moving from Brazil and then building a tiny house in Hawaii, Samantha DaSilva has found herself in Park City to be closer to other artists. DaSilva loves working with plaster and metallic and pigmented powders. She also loves to be outdoors, where she is inspired to create her own mediums using local newspaper and acrylics on canvas. While in Utah, DaSilva has found something profound about the space Antelope Island and how it has inspired her in her artwork.

Second Annual Park City Nursery Plein Air “Paint Out.”

Gallery MAR and the Park City Nursery is excited to hold the second annual Park City Nursery Plein Air “Paint Out.” This festive and free event is for the Park City Community to experience participating artists painting in “open air” style. This event is free for artists wanting to participate as well. For the second year, Gallery MAR and the Park City Nursery are collaborating to bring this festive and free event to the Park City Community.

Park City Artists at the Red Butte Garden Exhibition

The Park City Professional Artists Association (PCPAA) will exhibit at Red Butte Gardens Visitor Center May 31 through June 23. Twenty-four artists from the organization will display themes of local mountains, birds, flora and fauna in the exhibit.  Jeanne Hansen, PCPAA Spokesperson is excited to display the artwork at Red Butte Gardens. “Come out and support our local artists, and enjoy a colorful variety of work and techniques,” said Hansen.

The First Coalville Community Arts Day is in the Books!

We’re so pleased to announce that the first Coalville Community Arts Day was a huge success! We had a turnout of over 100 students and parents that filtered through during the day to help create a sidewalk mural and fence art that promotes mental wellness in a positive, vibrant, and accessible way in honor of Mental Health month, which takes place during the month of  May.

Coalville Community Arts Day // Bringing Community Together Through Creative Expression

The Park City Summit County Arts Council (PCSC Arts), North Summit School District, and Summit County Health (“the Partners”) have joined forces to energize and activate mental health initiatives through community arts programming. The result is Coalville Community Arts Day, planned for May 11, 2019 from 10am to 2pm at North Summit Elementary School in Coalville, UT.

Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with Images of Resilience

CONNECT Summit County, Park City Summit County Arts Council, and the Kimball Art Center have partnered to present Images of Resilience. This exhibit will showcase resilience - finding balance in the midst of chaos - through the medium of art. University of Utah’s Dr. Scott Langenecker will be at the event to share how resilience can be learned, cultivated and strengthened. The event will also include an area for adults and children to create art. This special exhibit will be held at the Community Room in the Park City Library on May 22nd from 6:30 - 8:30pm.
