Utah transplant, Anna Leigh Moore, has been painting native landscapes of the West since she first visited in 2013. Three years ago, Moore started pursuing art professionally and since then, she’s been sharing her art online, in local galleries, and festivals. The Arts Council of Park City | Summit Council sat down with Moore to learn more about her art, creative process, and inspirations. Answers are edited for clarity and conciseness.

The Summit County Public Art Advisory Board (“SCPAAB”) is seeking qualified artists to execute a highly creative two-dimensional mural artwork to be installed on the exterior of the Public Works Building in Hoytsville. The surface material of the building is concrete and brick, and the design should cover at least one-third of the 364’x11’ wall (approximately 121’x11’), with some flexibility based on concept design after community interviews and mural design development. Included in the process will be a “listening tour” — interviews and meetings with Hoytsville residents, local historians, and Indigenous Tribal members. The Mural process may also be documented with photos and video, so applicants should be willing to consent to documentation.

Throughout his career he took photography classes and practiced his craft. “I have walked with gorillas in Rwanda, spent 12 days in The Serengeti, photographed brown bears at Katmai National Park in Alaska and stayed on Barter Island off Alaska for five days photographing polar bears from a 30 foot fishing boat. Recently, I have been taking many astro photography photos.”
