Beginning in 2016 the Summit County Public Art Advisory Board in partnership with the PCSC Arts Council and Basin Recreation began to explore ways to engage local youth in a public art project. The result is The Future is Now which is designed to engage local young people in the creation of an interactive street art mural in the tunnel under Highway 224 -- a literal and figurative connection point for the Park City community.

Virtual Reality (VR) is becoming increasingly popular in libraries across the nation and the Park City Library is no exception. Kate Mapp, Adult Services Librarian, and Katrina Kmak, Youth and Spanish Services Librarian, first got the idea to offer virtual reality when they visited the University of Utah Marriott Library’s virtual reality drop in program. After taking a few turns on the virtual reality headset, Mapp and Kmak were sold and started making plans on how they could bring VR to the Park City Library.

When I heard about a new glassblowing studio opening in Park City, I jumped at the opportunity to find out more. Art studios in general are some of my favorite spaces on earth. I love the feeling of walking into a studio space and becoming immediately inspired. Studios expose the raw creative, reveals the process, and allows for the exploration of new techniques. Ansel Adams said, “You don't take a photograph, you make it.” This idea is central to Nicole Pietrantoni’s work, which will soon be on view at Kimball Art Center. The exhibition runs February 10 - April 15, with a preview with the artist for KAC members on February 9.
Nicole’s work is based in the tradition of landscape photography, but she challenges its conventions, examining the tension between picturesque images of nature and the near-constant threat of environmental change.

Open Air Art Space provides rentable studio space to artists, a supportive and collaborative environment for artistic growth, and classes and workshops for artists to get direct, one-on-one instruction improving their knowledge and skills. After experiencing teaching methods offered by private art schools, universities, Italian classical academics, direct mentorship, and workshops by some of today’s top artists, David Riley, launched the Open Air Art Space instructional program using a unique blend of teaching methods that allows students to grow as artists while creating the artwork that they are interested in.

The Park City Education Foundation (PCEF) supports education from just about every angle one might imagine, and fortunately for Park City students, one of their target priorities is the arts. Thanks to their many donors, PCEF will provide $150,000 in funding for various arts programs this year alone, $100,000 of which will go to fund Elementary Visual Art (EVA).
The Kimball Art Center believes that accessible creative outlets lead to a well-balanced lifestyle. Their summer art camps provide a makerspace for creative kids and teens. Visiting Artist Stephanie is an enrolled member of The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon. She is Santiam and Yoncalla Kalapuya, Cow Creek Umpqua, Takelma Rogue River, Clackamas Chinook and Iroquois. The Fox School of Wine, formally Park City School of Wine, is a non-denominational wine education school located in Park City, UT.
