Call to Artists // Third Annual Monster Drawing Rally

The Park City Summit County Arts Council will once again team up with the Kimball Art Center to host this year’s third-annual Monster Drawing Rally, an event that allows artists to interact with spectators, collectors, and other local artists. The organizations are now accepting artist applications for the event, which will be held June 6th at Kimball Art Center. Artists applications are due by Apr. 15, 2019.

Egyptian Theatre Brings Mamma Mia! A Story of Love, Friendship and Laughter to Park City

ABBA’s music comes to life in the feel-good story of Mamma Mia! Their catchy tunes and upbeat blend of disco and pop tells the story of love, friendship and laughter in this hit broadway production. Just recently, licensing rights became available to theatres across North America to produce and perform this musical. The Egyptian Theatre jumped right on the opportunity to bring this musical to Park City.

Local Profile // Editor Leslie Miller on "Reimagining a Place for the Wild"

Leslie Miller's relocation to Park City happened accidentally and long ago. She'd heard tales from friends of deep, powder skiing with snorkels. In 1973, Leslie, her college sweetheart and her dog were turned away from living in Little Cottonwood Canyon due to it being a watershed and directed up to an unknown place called Park City. Leslie's activism accomplishments are endless and on-going. She worked for the “Park Record”, was a contributing writer for “Park City Magazine”, and published the “Wasatch Mountain Times”. In 1991 she was elected to the Park City Council as an open space advocate.

New Public Art Mural Wild City Connects Community and Park City Culture

Last September, the China Bridge parking structure became a canvas for a four-wall mural entitled Wild City.

Emily Herr, from Richmond, Virginia, was awarded the project after submitting a proposed schedule, budget, concept design and mockup. “Putting together an application for a project of this scale is pretty involved, requiring research about the context for the piece (environmental, social, historical, etc) as well as logistics research.”

PCSC Arts Council to Host Project ABC Community Convening on Rural Arts Development and Arts Resources

The Park City Summit County Arts Council will hold its second Project ABC Community Convening on Friday, February 22 from 9am - noon at the Kamas Library. The first was held in November and focused on Spaces and Funding. The idea of ‘Community Conveings’ emerged from the cultural planning process as a Strategic Recommendation. Each of our Community Convenings focus on specific Collective Priorities that were identified in the Cultural Plan, and are opportunities to learn from others and to discuss the role of arts and culture in Summit County as well as network with the arts and culture community.
