On Teaching Writing Through Grief

After my brother Rob sustained a traumatic brain injury while riding his bicycle — yes, he was wearing a helmet — I was asked to teach a course called “Writing Through Grief.” I politely declined.  It had only been a few months since he’d died, and I couldn’t deal with my own feelings of ambivalence and loss — let alone guide others who had been in a similarly dark place.

Celebrate the New Year with Creative Festivities at the Kimball Arts Center

The Kimball Arts center is holding an event called “Noon Year’s Eve” in which it allows for parents to celebrate the new year with their children at an appropriate time besides midnight. Kimball Arts states, “Celebrate the New Year at a kid-appropriate time with wishes for 2020, art projects, an apple cider toast, and countdown to the 12pm balloon drop. $25 per child, adults are free.” This is a fantastic way to celebrate the new year with children, while the adults celebrate the holiday at midnight.

BRAND PC Holiday Celebration // Saturday, December 14th, 7-10pm

BRAND PC is a pop-up shop produced by the Park City Summit County Arts Council (Arts Council) to spotlight local creative brands and entrepreneurs from around Summit County. The pop-up shop has come a long way since the initial idea was formulated in 2016. Over the years there has been a tremendous increase in interest and engagement from the creative entrepreneurial sector. A Holiday Celebration to honor the space, open to the public, will be held on Saturday, December 14th from 7-10pm.
