The One Book One Community selection this year is 'Deep Creek; Finding Hope in the High Country' which recently won the 'Reading the West Advocacy Award. Author Pam Houston, once a resident of Park City, will be returning in September to talk about her latest book.

Read MoreAfter much thought and consideration, the Arts Council has decided to postpone the 2020 Summit Arts Showcase until Fall 2020 (exact date TBD), due to the current rise of COVID-19. The event was scheduled for Saturday, July 18 from 11-7pm and had planned to follow all yellow phase health guidelines set by the State of Utah and the Summit County Health Department. While postponing this annual event was a difficult decision to make, the Arts Council board and staff feel it's the right one as we all try our best to slow the spread of the virus and prioritize the health of our community.

Read MoreOur historic Egyptian Theatre has been dark since they turned off the spotlights and locked the doors. “We were the first to shut down,” says Theatre Manager/Director Randy Barton. “ We had three sold out nights for the band “Moe” and fans were flying in from everywhere to see them. This was voluntary – not by order.” Like many businesses and nonprofits they've had to think outside the box to invent a new way to be 'Covid Cool' and keep guests safely entertained.

Pandemania and Pandemania 2 have a run time of less than a minute but the time invested is incalculable. “It is impossible to add up the time spent building a set, creating the characters, knitting outfits for them and then shooting a scene. Even more time is spent in post production — touching up each frame, adding sound etc. It is time-consuming but I seem to be kind of obsessed with it. And I am completely self taught!”

But in an effort to support local artists and continue to inspire the community, organizers decided to host a similar virtual event on May 15th. Like the original Monster Draw, Monster Drawing Rally // Digital + Rewired will be a live art-making event that allows attendees to spy on the creative process. The ‘spying’ will take place via Zoom, while local artists create in their studios. Online attendees will still be able to purchase artwork for $50, and new this year, artists will have additional pieces available priced at their discretion.
