The Summit County Fair is upon us! It’s special time for the community to come together to celebrate the culture and heritage of Summit County. The annual summer event brings a full week of food, fun, exhibits, demonstrations, contests, and rides. In addition to the demolition derby, the livestock showings, the 4H displays, parade, pie baking contest, and the little buckeroo rodeo, the Fair hosts the Fine Arts Exhibit which gives local artists the opportunity to share their artwork with the public.

Summit County Public Art Releases Call to Artists for South Summit Services Building
Calling all artists! The Summit County Public Art Advisory Board ("SCPAAB") has released an RFP for artwork in the newly constructed South Summit Services Building in Kamas, UT to creatively celebrate multicultural heritage and the stunning natural environment in Summit County. SCPAAB is seeking artists to propose a concept for highly creative three-dimensional artwork to be placed in the interior hallway of the new building.

Latino Arts Festival 2018
Immerse yourself in creative and cultural offerings at the third Latino Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday, June 16th and 17th from 3-8pm. This year, the event will be held outside at the Park City Library Field (1255 Park Ave.).

Park City Professional Artists Association will have an exhibit at the Park City Library starting June 1st and running until August 28th. Twenty two artists will be featured in the exhibit. Local Artist Profile: Mick Savage Blends Art & Science
Utah native and Park City resident, Mick Savage has recently gotten serious about his life-long artistic passion. “When I was young, I wanted to be an artist. I drew and painted all the time and became an art major in college.” Married and with a young daughter, Mick was advised by an art professor that switching majors might make it easier to find a job that could support his family. “I followed his advice and switched to science. It’s been wonderful to get back to my art in a serious way.”

When I heard about a new glassblowing studio opening in Park City, I jumped at the opportunity to find out more. Art studios in general are some of my favorite spaces on earth. I love the feeling of walking into a studio space and becoming immediately inspired. Studios expose the raw creative, reveals the process, and allows for the exploration of new techniques. Challenging Landscape Photography Conventions: Nicole Pietrantoni at the Kimball Art Center
Ansel Adams said, “You don't take a photograph, you make it.” This idea is central to Nicole Pietrantoni’s work, which will soon be on view at Kimball Art Center. The exhibition runs February 10 - April 15, with a preview with the artist for KAC members on February 9.
Nicole’s work is based in the tradition of landscape photography, but she challenges its conventions, examining the tension between picturesque images of nature and the near-constant threat of environmental change.

Old Town Cellars & Kimball Art Center Seek the Soul of Park City
Old Town Cellars and Kimball Art Center have partnered to present an exciting Call for Art to be featured on an OTC wine label!
This project came to fruition through conversations that took place last summer when the KAC first reached out to OTC to develop their Sip + Sketch / Wine + Watercolor classes, which are held at OTC. The classes are taught by KAC instructors, and are meant to be fun and accessible for anyone to enjoy. The wine, of course, is a nice addition to the art classes.
